Idiotic and bankrupt politicians played this to the hilt daily assisted by a vernacular racist newspaper who think they are above the law!

Until today – no action has been taken against this racist pencil pushers!

Then it was the education institutions, then the enforcement agencies, now has this racist behavior and tendency now contaminated our healthcare system?

Of course, I am aware that we had pencil doctors aplenty in the 80’s and early 90’s!

As I remember in 1983 two government medical doctor friends and I were returning from Cameron Highlands and the car we were traveling was involved in a pile up!

Both my friends had cuts and we stopped over at a public hospital and there we were introduced to the form of a pencil doctor who was checking out the injuries sustained by both doctors with her pencil not knowing that these two were medical doctors as well!

I remember them shouting at her and then taking over treating each other and leaving the premise!

I had then brought this matter in my many pungent articles to the mainstream newspapers which resulted in a war of words between the ministries hospital division director and I before the minister intervened calling a truce!

Those days – I have yet to come to a situation where there was an admission of liability, apology made, redress given and an assurance given that this will never happen again!

Only denial followed by more denials and fabrication and lies!

In today incident – for several days this patient admitted in a public hospital and recovering from an operation was silent and to visiting doctors something was amiss!

When they checked her it was found that she had developed serious bed sores and was in pain and difficulty!

Checks showed that the predominantly one racial grouping of para medical staff including nurses had avoided monitoring her!

Worst there were allegations that the staff felt that this lady was financially well off and should be instead treated at a private hospital!

As a result of this premeditated omission the patient was re-operated again as the sores were creating major problems!

Has racism now creped into our healthcare system and will it affect the health delivery system in Malaysia which has a great impartial treatment history?

Of course we can deny till the buffaloes come back but the truth is with all racist tenor highlighted by racist newspapers, media and politicians both past and present to gain political prominence instantly or attempt a ‘political comeback’ is undermining the delicate fabric of unity that was sowed and nurtured by our founding fathers and presently envisaged in Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s 1Malaysia vision!

This is shocking to me as I come from a family of dedicated and ethical doctors and public healthcare professionals and throughout my consumer advocacy I have never witnessed the kind of racial profiling and behavior as I am monitoring these days.

I know that the quality of the healthcare delivery system like others had deteriorated due to incompetence, shoddy professionalism, racism and extreme partiality which must be contained immediately and addressed!

Those who cannot serve across the board should be sacked – no two ways about it!

To me this was a fundamental disrespect of professionals’ skills and their fundamental dignities as healthcare facilities both public and private must stand for integrity.

Healthcare facilities need to stand against this undercurrent of racism that is fast contaminating our society!

If this is happening in a hospital near you please alert me!

I expect hospital administrators who have this problem to take several steps and among them:

1. Personally apologizing to patients for the indignity they suffered!

2. Officially warning staff no matter how high in the management tier that such irresponsible and despicable behavior will not be tolerated!

3. Hospital Administrators should hold regular staff meetings and form a ‘diverse racial task force within’ to investigate similar issues and to monitor the quality of service.

4. Inviting Advocates like me to help administrators and managers handle sensitive cultural issues.

5. At the policy level I will be speaking to proactive and no nonsense tolerating Director General of Health Services Malaysia, Dr Ismail Merican (above) to initiate a hospital’s anti-discrimination policy warning hospital management hierarchy that he would hold them personally responsible if such behavior is allowed to take root and destroy the image and sacrifices of the Malaysian healthcare founding fathers!

There is no doubt that he has being really trying to do his best!

Since becoming Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak has walked the talk!

And he has done so in his own way when he walked away from protocol and into the streets where Malaysia’s common men and women are whether it was Malay, Chinese, Indian or East Malaysian!

He has repeatedly stated that he is initiating change that we can all believe in and he is doing just that!

But his critics are not quiet either and they are indeed hounding him and his administration at each and every corner hoping to derail his 1Malaysia endeavor and other massive changes needed to make Malaysia competitive nationally and internationally, to foster a Malaysian close brotherhood where we are an unity in diversity!

So I cannot but support his recent call against racism and extremism and his vow to fight ‘racism and extremism’ and appeal for public cooperation by being ‘calm and rational’.

In a message posted on his blog on Malaysia Day Sep 16, the prime minister had clearly stated that he was ‘sad’ that despite living in an independent multi-cultural nation for over 50 years, there were still those who could not tolerate, much less accept, the benefits of our society.

While these groups were often small in number, Najib said their presence was amplified through their extreme sentiments and acts!

The Premier added that his administration will continue to protect people from ‘destructive acts of racism and extremism’.

This is important and the premier’s reiteration that his administration kept a watchful eye on such groups and would continue to protect the rakyat (polity) from threats — whether from outside the nation or within is reassuring!

As the Premier stated it is pertinent that all Malaysians to be calm and rational in the face of such extremism and not take to hurt the statements by either Malaysia’s version of the KKK, Malaysia’s living self righteous ‘monument of racism’ or worst, a racist newspaper who think they are ‘above the law!’

I cannot but agree that to respond to these vulgar racist and recalcitrant who have forgotten their ‘own roots and beginnings’ only serves to escalate tensions and becomes a hindrance to our own progress!

Let us look at the bigger picture and assist Premier Najib Tun Razak in his new proactive vision for Malaysia!

The talk show host with their  multi colored hair or worst fading hairline with flashes of ‘American styled’ English and questioning repertoire can spin as much as they want to give impressions that we are debating issues without fear nor favor but the truth is their producers and they are still under the purse strings of the political forces behind the media stations!

The Ministers can say what they want about equal unhindered access to healthcare or for that matter to all opportunities but at the same breath ask his political secretary to pen letters of instructions to medical professionals and administrators in the civil service to give priority and special attention to politically connected individuals, party animals and donkeys!

Or what speed and urgency there is when an idiot or a group of idiots from a dominant political party or a racist NGO makes a police report!

Or when even mentally insane people make reports even on ‘donkeys farting on the North South Highway!’

These things are not new and worst than prostitution but it happens unhindered where initiators and administrators think that the world we live in post GE12 is as blind and ignorant as it was before!

Where those who honestly serve the rights and interests of the civil society even without official assistance, funding, by sheer dedication, conviction and hard work are bypassed, harassed, sidelined, antagonized, not provided recognition, honorifics or assistance for being those ‘swimming against the tide’ or ‘trouble-makers’ for speaking in truth and acting with ethics and conscience?

What is even stranger than fiction is the irony that when political pretenders and others are questioned they answer with such straight face that these ‘allegations are fiction and the result of wild imagination’ of the whistle blower!

Only when tragedy strikes as it does will then we see another charade of claims of ignorance and the wheels of action and the drama takes a new pitch as public interests demands action!

Any by some strange coincidence the ‘see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil’ – 4th institution begins to get brave and ask questions that was long avoided since they were deemed ‘sensitive’ but by whose account?

Tragedies sell newspapers especially those that have recently lost their numbers in circulation for their political bias and racism!

I feel so ashamed, so saddened, in anguish that there are frauds, conman and cheats like Bala Devan s/o A. Theaivendiram 56 (above) still not arrested, thugs, murderers running free in our society by default, some waiting to claim their next victim!

And what is strange is could there be several police reports already made in a particular district, town (both big and small) but over looked or unattended by sheer default, incompetence, interference or other sine biotic relationships?

Yesterday several senior and leading lawyers and civil servants met me for late tea!

And all agreed and were certain that the Banting Police Station is not the only Police Station in the country that may have been suffering from ‘a severe attack of the incompetence virus!’

The gruesome murder of four individuals recently have opened the Pandora box and raised the public anger they will not tolerate such shoddy, despicable, incompetence and unprofessional behavior from those expected to protect and to save!

It is also time to make accountable each and every resource we have to track down those out to destroy and terrorize our society, our way of life by fear, fraud and anxiety!

There must be a clear comprehensive audit done so that a few misplaced and self serving minds do not smear the good office of those expected to safeguard public interest!

I now wonder what will happen to all those unsolved murders that have created dysfunctions with many families and lives after the loss of loved ones and who are still awaiting news that will bring closure to a nightmare relived over and over again by them – survivors?

Most importantly – will there be now a comprehensive review of how police reports made are managed in the country or will it be ‘business as usual’ after the frenzy of these murders die down?

Where – like time past – Malaysians forget the horror the nation was put through this year’s Eid celebrations with the horrific and gruesome killings after the media frenzy and political photo shoots and visits ends?

That seems to be the million dollar question!

Points to discuss when I meet the proactive Home Minister and the incoming no nonsense tolerating IGP!

I am really saddened that it took the heinous and gruesome murder of a high profile personality – a story that was given so much prominence in a vernacular mainstream newspaper to shock the nation and today raise pertinent questions about whether the time was right to re-look at the manner and procedures involving police reports?

Do not get me wrong – I was among the first to convey my congratulations to the Police Force for the speedy break through made in this case involving Sosilawati Lawiya and three others!

It was a brillant job well done!

Now as the Pandora Box is opened there are pertinent questions raised that needs answers and a comprehensive audit called for in the manner we manage police reports nationwide!

The last time I was at the Home Ministry, I raised this issue of urgency needed in certain police reports made pertaining to serial fraud, cheating, grievous bodily harm, assault and murder with close aides of the Home Minister!

In fact, it all started with our investigations into serial fraudster and conman ‘Kannan’ Bala Devan s/o A. Theaivendiram 56 and the numerous police reports made against him even as late as in 2006 by a lady lawyer from Malacca that went uninvestigated!

Today despite several years later this serial fraudster and conman and his aides and abettors are still at large here in Malaysia and in India!

The behavior of the Indian government and their police is even appalling!

The question that is being raised on the corridors of the reasonable man and the grassroots is why certain police reports usually initiated by politicians and with a political agenda get so much publicity, speed and urgency while others made by lesser men and women hit a stone wall of inaction?

This is all about public perceptions as I indicated to senior friends at the Home Ministry and Bukit Aman!

While I really laud the actions of my dear friend – Director of Criminal Investigations Bakri Zinin who is a good example of a dedicated, no nonsense professional officer I pray that others nationwide take seriously their role and responsibility towards each and every police report made no matter how insignificant it appears to be or lacking in substance or details!

If only the police officer assigned to investigate the police report made by the Malacca lady lawyer (above) against Bala Devan in 2006 – BDR HILIR/002679/06 and BDR HILIR/003409/06 made at Malacca Tengah had done so with speed and professionalism, we may have had fewer victims of the scandal Bala Devan s/o A. Theaivendiram, Identity Card number 540614-10-5729 sprung over both government contracts involving the Ministry of Works, Malaysia and the Seremban to Gemas Double Track Railway Project involving the Government of India and its contractors Ircon International!

Today, as a result of this gruesome murder police are investigating the disappearance of several people believed to be linked to the lawyer brothers arrested over the murder of the cosmetics millionaire and three others.

Now there will be probes into the police reports made by families of the missing people lodged over a 36-month period!

I am certain my dear friend the no nonsense Federal CID director commissioner Bakri Zinin will leave no ‘stones unturned’ to ensure that all reports made herein on in this case and that of any missing persons linked to the lawyer duo will be immediately investigated!

It is pertinent that speedy justice is brought about and families who have since being grieving not knowing what happened to their loved ones receive closure, the knowledge and assurance that those behind these gruesome murders will not escape retribution of the worst kind!

And to the Malaysian Police Force I say – please keep up the good work, we appreciate your sacrifices to keep us safe and may you be blessed!

Are the North South Highway third lanes a killer stretch because of poor quality work?

Was quality sacrificed on the altars of obese profits or due to too many sub-contracting?

Are observations addressed here true or the figment ofthe writer’s wild imagination?

Unless both the Ministries of Works and Transport conduct an impartial, independent and transparent inquiry we will never know!

Works (up) and Transport (let) – So it is time those expected to protect public interests get off their backsides and react to this interesting email that was forwarded to me.

When I call for an independent and transparent task force – I mean an independent and transparent task force!

Not one filled to the brim with politically connected ‘rakan rakan’ and cronies – dig?

Dear Dr Jacob George,

I am enclosing an email that I received trusting and knowing that you are the best person in Malaysia to get to the bottom of the allegations contained therein!

Happy hunting chief!

(Name and Contact withheld)

This is true! I have another friend who works as pavement contractor and he shared his thoughts on it himself.

First of all – All you frequent users of the North-South Expressway?

If so be more cautious when driving on the third lane.

I am a frequent user of our North-South Expressway and I have this IMPORTANT experience to highlight and share:-

I am a building contractor based in Penang with over twenty years of experience and I have been driving my 5 series BMW (latest generation and a dammed solid road-holding car) each time I traveled to KL.

Lately, the new extended 3 lanes highway had been opened up for use and since then, I have also been using it quite often.

HOWEVER, when I used it each time it is WET, I can really ‘feel’ that the new road surface is extremely SLIPPERY!

To share with some of you, my car comes with a built-in traction control mechanism ( skidding prevention
mechanism ) and you can feel it each time it is activated.

Previously, I don’t come across this kind of slippery feel except when I drive over a paddle of water at certain speed.

From my observation as a building contractor, the ‘wearing course’ of the new road surface could be TOO FINE OR TOO SMOOTH and TOTALLY UNSUITABLE for highway use!

The wearing course ( top premix layer ) mix design for highways should be of minimum 20mm coarse aggregate mix that will give us the required bond between the surface and our tyres.

Fine wearing course ( 14mm coarse aggregate size and below ) is only suitable for normal road. ( A proper
test need to be carried out to determine the mix design of the wearing course).

Technically, this comment on the size of the coarse aggregate (or “stone” in lay language) for the wearing course (top most layer of the road) is correct in that it should not be too fine for better grip between the tyre and the road surface.

Since the opening of the three lanes highway, I had seen cars skidding in front me or in the opposite direction and approximately 2 weeks ago, one of my friends who is also a frequent user of our NSE, came to share with me about his slippery feeling as well as the many skidded cars he had seen lately.

I am highlighting this to TV3 and The Star with the hope that a thorough investigation could be carried out immediately to find out how or what causes cars and buses to skid.

A proper and independent test need to be carried
out urgently to determine the design mix of the wearing course.
