Consumerist: Recalcitrant Sri Gading Should Take Bahasa Malaysia Classes!

First is there nothing called ‘personal view’ when one sits as a BN block and makes statements in Parliament?

In Parliament, you represent your constituency and in this case, the Barisan Nasional block!

That itself raises many a question, does it not?

But many play to the gallery thinking their uncouth statements assuming, in fact, gambling that they will be made a hero when they make such, but in this case, when lambasted by BN and UMNO Secretary General and politically extinct threatened BN component parties – the next best thing to save face is to deny content, or, claim it was a personal statement!

The truth is a grave injustice was done to Ambiga Sreenevasan by defaming her by stating she committed treason!

What treason?

Who is really committing treason?

Are they those alleged to be selling state secrets in procurement or paying billions for useless hi-tech gadgets for commissions, or offering Citizenship for votes or the uncontrollable runaway corruption that is currently a way of life here or staying silent despite knowledge of all wrong doings for political expediency?

As far as this vulgar matter is concerned – according to Hansard, the Umno leader had said: “Apakah Ambiga tidak boleh kita anggap penderhaka kepada Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang di-Pertuan Agong dan hukum gantung pada dia?” which when translated means :

‘Can we not consider Ambiga a traitor to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and sentence her to hang?’

So you decide what is truth, what is a lie and what is a cowardly act and an embarrassment to the Nation and who indeed is a recalcitrant ass!

Consumerist: With Idiots Like Them BN Will Loss GE13!

Dato Jacob George

Consumerist: With Idiots Like Them BN Will Loss GE13!

It is a pity that at one end of the spectrum everything is being done to entice and regain lost votes which includes allegedly some very unpleasantly ventures!

But just as one thinks advances have been made, you have an idiot and a big one at that, stating the most bizarre and vulgar statement which not only is illogical, has no substance in law, politically distasteful, racist and basically what is a continued criminal intimidation of a widely respected Malaysian leader who pursues free and fair elections, accountability, good governance and transparency!

I am certainly referring to BN’s Seri Gading MP Mohamad Aziz, a four-term federal lawmaker who told Parliament when debating the supplementary supply bill and likened Bersih Chief Ambiga Sreenevasan to the leaders of the Al-Ma’unah militant group which tried to overthrow the government in 2000 and who were eventually sentenced to death by hanging for “waging war against the King”, under the Section 122 of the Penal Code!

Basically, this confirms we have absolutely some really stupid people in Parliament, individuals which includes Lenggong MP Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (above left) who stood up in support of Aziz and who do not know what to say and what not to in a political climate like that in Malaysia today where if one has the courage to call for national elections – it would at best result in a hung Parliament!

And this is also a cowardly act, as so far, all those who had orchestrated various demonstrations from the butt exercise to positioning burger stalls in front of a devout Hindu or calling Ambiga an ‘AntiChrist’ or ‘traitor’ did not exhibit the same political courage to do the same against Bersih’s A. Samad the co-chair of the said change movement!

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to know just why!

All I can say is it is indeed a disgrace that such a crass and low class and bred individual is an elected member of our August house!

Consumerist: Drop The Chargers Against Fr. Paulino Miranda!

Dato Jacob George

Consumerist: Drop The Chargers Against Fr. Paulino Miranda!

Father Paulino Miranda is my family priest and as such, he has been our pastoral guide, dear friend and parish priest!

My family think the world of him as a priest and of his dedication and we are not alone in this!

I have always enjoyed his sermons at the Divine Mercy Church in Shah Alam which are short, well researched but both educating and motivating.

As such I take offense at the knowledge that my parish priest could be jailed and fined up to RM10,000 for taking part in a candlelight four years ago.

That candlelight service was calling for the abolishment of the Inter Security Act (ISA) an outdated relic of the past alleged to be used to criminalize political opponents into submission!

As such Father Paulino is among 21 people on trial for taking part in an illegal assembly on October 9, 2008 and refusing a police order to disperse, under section 27(5) (a) and section 27(4) of the Police Act 1967 which one must now admit has been amended and replaced with a new law allowing peaceful public

I am advised that a letter was written to the Attorney General’s Chambers asking the chargers to be dropped but we are also advised that this was rejected!

But strangely what I found more vulgar was the implied response when the AG’s Chambers replied in November 2011 stating:

‘We will continue the prosecution against your client under section 27(5) (a) and section 27(4) of the Police Act 1967’

I am advised that the said letter was signed by one Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria from the AG’s Chambers.

Interestingly also charged for the same offense are several opposition leaders and sitting MPs and State Assemblymen and others whose ages ranges from 25 and 62 all of whom have pleaded not guilty!

Father Paulino has stated quite clearly to me that he will not plead guilty, pay the fine but is ready to face the jail term for his conviction!

I salute this man of faith and of GOD!

This is an act of sacrifice, dedication and truth and of one standing by his flock at all costs!

The truth is in the present wake of transformation, political and social change here such chargers and punitive penalties would be described by all and sundry as totally unjust, a process of intimidation to drive fear into members of the public and the civil society in exercising their democratic rights as enshrined in the Federal Constitution!

The irony in Malaysia is at one side we see our politicians and others aspiring to be one falling over each other in stupidity, selfishness and self promotion using public monies and on the other end it is great and spiritually uplifting to see a dedicated man of GOD practicing what he preaches and ready to sacrifice himself by standing alongside his flock!

The ramifications national and internationally if Fr Paulino is jailed is mind blogging and you do not have to be a rocket scientist to know that it will have its political fallout from the capitals of the civilized world – which includes the Vatican!

In Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak – Malaysian Christians will show their displeasure by voting against the Barisan Nasional Government enbloc!

Consumerist: Did Someone Say Malaysia’s Crime Index Is Going Down?

News hurts and terrifying that another WOMAN was robbed and slashed on her head at the car park of Mid Valley Megamall last Friday evening.

The 10.30pm incident took place we are advised from an entrance to a cinema, was the third robbery at major shopping complex car parks in the Klang Valley over the past month.

All three cases involved female victims who were walking alone.

A witness, who declined to be named, said the victim was found by shoppers who then alerted the mall’s security officers.

The victim was found leaning against a wall with blood gushing from her head. She was also injured on her hands, believed to be defensive wounds.

“The woman was too traumatised, her hands were shaking. She could only tell the security guards that she had been robbed,” said the witness.

It was learnt that the victim was only several metres away from her parked car when she was attacked. However, the car was not stolen.

Meanwhile, Mid Valley Megamall assistant public relations manager Stephanie Tan said they had surrendered CCTV recordings of the incident to the police.

“The victim was given immediate assistance by our staff and customers at the mall soon after the incident.

“She suffered injuries to her head and face, and was rushed to University Malaya Medical Centre in an ambulance,” Tan said in a statement last night.

The victim was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning.

Tan said the incident happened at an office tower lift lobby at parking zone G, at level four.

“We learnt that the victim lost her i-Phone, a small amount of cash, her identity card, driving license and bank cards, in the incident.

“The mall management will extend its full cooperation to facilitate investigations.”

Meanwhile, Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said police had yet to receive a report.

Perhaps some people ‘mudah lupa’ as if one remembers several years ago one Canny Ong (above) was tortured, murdered and burnt to death by her kidnapper after she mysteriously disappeared from the parking lot of an exclusive shopping mall in Bangsar district, Kuala Lumpur.

As I always say IF only policymakers and others we entrust with our safety pursue such with the kind of passion, and imagination our politicians terrorize each other Malaysia will be a great place to live in!

Consumerist: On Security And Crime – What I wrote in 2001!

Dato Jacob George

I wrote about security and crime more than 11 years ago and I just wonder what is any different today?

Yesterday I again witness a young woman being robbed of her handbag by four men in two high speed motorbikes!

So is the crime rate coming down? Your guess as good as mine!

National security is prime concern this Merdeka!
(Posted on 11.57am Aug 31, 2001)

No one can deny that we celebrate our 44th year of independence in an atmosphere of true happiness, determination and success.

The majority of us are also united in our resolve, prepared vigilance and alertness to face any quarter that threatens our democracy and our way of life. Under a stable and efficient Barisan Nasional government, we have been assured of security for our beloved nation as proven through the quality of governance in the past 44 years as an independent country.

I said we are in a state of vigilance because we are repeatedly hurt by people we once considered friends. They are the people who have now betrayed our confidence as they try to destabilize our beloved nation for their narrow political aims and agendas in and out of the country.

These people have failed to realize the sacrifices of our founding fathers and generations of Malaysians, led by our efficient and visionary leaders. Together, we had developed a nation that was previously dependent on agriculture to an industrialized and developing nation. Today, Malaysia shines out like a lighted beacon to the envy of many developed
and developing nations!

We have been put under renewed and consistent attack by economic predators and well financed media houses, lobby groups, and, sadly aided by a minority group of frustrated politicians. But we have overcome their slandering claims and their efforts to destabilize our nation for their own narrow political gains and agendas!

Meanwhile, we are filled with anxiety because a misguided minority have now decided to destabilize a peaceful, tolerant multiracial and multi-religious nation with their own antidote of religious militancy.

To make matters worse, there is a minority among us who not only blindly join the fray and threaten to destabilize our nation through social disorder, riots, and other terrorists acts. Sadly, they also partake in similar ventures in several neighboring countries, including those in Africa and West Asia!

Kudos to our security intelligence for their fine efforts in gathering enough information to facilitate a preemptive strike against these forces to protect our nation.

However, one area that continues to cause serious threat at breakneck speed is the presence of foreigners, mostly Indonesians, in Malaysia. They number over a million though the Home Ministry sources claim a ‘conservative 600,000 of these illegals in the country.

Of late, we are confronted by reports of robbery, rape, murder and other criminal activities that have sent shocks and shivers down the spine of law abiding and peace-loving Malaysians.

I was made to understand that, according to recent Police records, more than 2,000 crimes were reportedly committed by foreigners, mainly Indonesians!

We also read of a husband made to witness the brutal gang-rape of his wife, we heard of our children being kidnapped by housemaids and forced onto the streets of Indonesia as child beggars, and we are confronted with the brutal slaying of a housewife by her 18-year-old housemaid. Now, we are tormented by the presence of Indonesian militants and religious teachers holding Malaysian permanent resident status but engaging in various activities to destabilize the nation.

It is therefore imperative for us, as we celebrate our 44th year of independence, to welcome the proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs to impose heavier penalties, including whipping, to check the influx of illegal immigrants in the interest of national security!

In fact, the proposal should include local councils and their enforcement officers to stamp any aid that allows the illegal movement and entry of this human trade!

As our beloved Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, had stated time and time again and more recently after his African state visit, that we need not be apologetic nor defensive for our political and security decisions. We just need to protect our nation’s interest!

There is neither justification nor a need for any quarter to cite the much talked-about Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 when what we are concerned here with is the all-important concerns on national security, which overrides other petty concerns of the detracting groupings!

Ultimately, our nation’s survival and stability rest on our shoulders, and the time has come for us to take bold steps to protect the rights and interests of the majority – the tolerant and peace-loving Malaysians.

This is the call for the 44th Malaysian Day celebration, that we continue to support a government that has repeatedly delivered on its promises. Let’s stand by our national leaders as they take affirmative action that is needed to safeguard our nation’s security. It’s the only way to safeguard our Malaysian way of life!
