Consumerist: Germany Faces Recession, Greece In Chaos, Euro-Zone On Jitters, And The US Facing A Cliff Hanger And Consumer Jitters And Malaysian Politicians Only Concerned About Themselves, Their, Children, Wives, And Their Insurmountable Greed!

It is a disturbing morning after the joyous re-election of US President Barrack Obama!

It is disturbing to learn from counterparts abroad that Germany’s leading economic think tanks have warned there was a “great danger” that Europe’s top economy could fall into recession, as they slashed their growth forecasts for next year in half.

The four institutes — Ifo in Munich, IfW in Kiel, IW in Halle and RWI in Essen – also lashed out at the European Central Bank, saying its latest anti-crisis measures risked fuelling inflation in the 17 countries that share the euro.

They strongly felt that the said euro crisis is negatively impacting economic activity in Germany!

It is also disturbing to learn that should and the operative word being ‘should’ – the situation in the Eurozone continue to deteriorate, this will also impact the German economy. Over the forecasting period as a whole the downside risks prevail and there is a great danger that Germany will fall into a recession!

Greece and Spain are already in real trouble and Portugal not far behind!

You do not have to be a ‘rocket scientist’ or a ‘Soros’ like investor in the stock market or one in real estate or looking for a job to be alarmed when several highly regarded observers warn that the United States economy is about to be driven “off the cliff” by increasing debt, the expiration of tax cuts and the prospect of deep spending cuts.

And IF America goes into recession because a bunch of idiots just refuse to learn from mistakes of the past and work with the President of the United States it would be alarm bells for any nation more so those professing to be of a democratic system.

I am quite aware that political theorists hold that democracies need crises to focus leaders’ and voters’ minds and get bickering parties to work together to find a solution.

This is not what happened in Greece, Spain, Portugal or in the US let alone in Malaysia as we watch what’s happening with extreme guarded optimism!

This news that confronts the masses of Malaysians facing racism, strains and versions of apartheid (?), corruption, abuse, manipulation, fabrication, incompetence, lack of professionalism, double speak, insurmountable greed for power at all costs – one that blinds one at the innumerable wrongs that are being done repeatedly – it leaves citizens shell shocked and wanting to tell their political representatives in no uncertain terms that the time to act in unison is now – in the country’s interest rather than one’s political agenda!

A major ‘financial storm’ may be heading this way though our politicians tell us we are sound, strong and insulated – a response that is equally stupid in this global climate of business dealings in all kinds of markets that includes emerging markets all intertwined!

Already Asian shares have suffered extended losses the last two days as investors are worried about the fiscal crisis in the United States and Europe!

Anyway for arguments sake it would be interesting to note data from the rest of the eurozone which continues to paint a grim picture.

Consumer prices inflation in Spain rose to a 16-month high in September of 3.4%.

High inflation is particularly unwelcome in a country that is already struggling with shrinking incomes and uncompetitive high wage costs within the eurozone.

It will also make it even harder for the government to cut its overspending from 8.9% of Spanish economic output this year to 4.5% in 2013, as Spanish state pensions are indexed to the inflation rate.

In Malaysia with the present political fallout and uncertainties, with politicians playing the ‘race and religion’ cards, Christian bashing, to stay in power attempting to turn the clock back to one where there was ‘political barbarism’ – with ‘rash and self serving’ decisions like the AES with its ‘Johor connections’, or multi million ringgit contracts to alleged cronies and decisions where the country’s assets are either stripped or handed over to one particular individual creates fear!

The good news is Malaysian consumers – the people – are fully aware and enlightened and it would be foolish to test either their resolve or intelligence!

This our politicians and politician wannabe need to note for their own political survival!

Consumerist: Foreign Hired Kidnappers Targeting Middle Income Malaysians?

Consumerist: Foreign Hired Kidnappers Targeting Middle Income Malaysians?

It is troubling as perception that both organized corruption and crime statistics is going up in Malaysia!

It is also perceived either rightly or wrongly that the state of affairs is the result of a decline in professional and ethical standards of those expected to protect and uphold law as they are now pressured to do political bidding and agendas?

In fact, Malaysia’s former IGP (above) also stated that the statistic on crime has indeed gone up!Now who are these ‘foreigners?’

Are they those walking in and out as ‘tourists, students, businessmen, and other portfolios?’

Are they all organized?

Is there already a brief on them, their activities, their handlers, financiers and their modus operanti?

I am referred to a China Press report quoting sources as saying that the is a syndicate which hires foreigners who speak fluent English to be the decoy to draw the victims to a designated place before they were kidnapped.

We are told of a latest victim who was a 33-year-old man, who wished to be known as Huang, from Kuala Lumpur.

It says that Huang, who worked in a printing company in the city, said two men had approached him about a business proposal and set up a meeting at the Ampang LRT station on Saturday.

He also said when he went there, the duo forced him into a car and took him to a flat about 4km away where another five people were waiting.

The kidnappers called Huang’s family and demanded a RM3,000 ransom, it reported.

The family members agreed to pay RM2,000 after negotiations with the kidnappers and deposited the money into Huang’s own account.

The kidnappers used the victim’s ATM card to withdraw the ransom.

This is troubling as it means we have an organized crime unit now targeting middle and lower income Malaysians!

So it is just not religious schools unmonitored which may be where seeds are laid for the next locally born suicide bomber, or a country where well trained sleepers and terrorists are moving in and out rather freely supported by an unhindered cash flow?

It is sad if this is the state of affairs as far as the security of the common Malaysian is concerned something has gone seriously wrong and it is time we show the exit to the way politics is played out in Malaysia which puts all of us in harm’s way and do the right thing so that when we face the ALMIGHTY – and we will ALL HAVE TO DO THIS – we will be found blameless and right before HIS SIGHT!

Consumerist: Well Done Malaysia’s Giant Consolidated Ltd!

As a person who has been monitoring the double track railway project from the year 1999, I am indeed glad that a Malaysian company has won a US$5 billion deal to build a 220 kilometre rail link in Laos!

It is heart-warming to know and learn that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is on a working visit to Laos, is scheduled to witness the signing ceremony between the Malaysian firm and the Laotian government in Vientiane today.

Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong is also expected to be present and this project will certainly provide regional connectivity for Laos!

Reliable sources inform me that the said Malaysian company – Giant Consolidated, a unit of Giant Group Ltd, will build an electrified double-track standard gauge railway from Savannakhet to Lao Bao, near the country’s border with Vietnam.

Giant Group is based in Malaysia but incorporated in the British Virgin Islands.

It is also learnt that the said company had in 2008 signed a preliminary agreement with the Laotian government to conduct a feasibility study on the said project and did it with superb skill and determination!

Consumerist : Making Our Student Debtors And Bankrupts Before Being Employed While Cronies With Honorifics Aplenty Laugh All Their Way To Their Banks? (Part 2)

Yes, sadly as I stated in this blog earlier this week I am being advised that a
bout 8,000 graduates from nursing institutions, especially those from private colleges, are jobless and no one has the solution but colleges are still taking in huge numbers and payments for courses promises a rewarding career!

No guilt, no remorse that one is actually cheating an innocent student putting their all.

In fact, I am glad to receive confirmation and support from Minister of Human Resources that his ministry confirms that a Health Ministry study showed that 8,000 graduates who pursued nursing courses were jobless, especially those from private nursing institutions

So what is the alternate after huge investments and time spent thanks to mischievous and misrepresentation of adverts from such institutions – nurses told to employment opportunities outside private hospitals.

And why is this so I ask the academic intelligentsia who are still bringing in students with all kinds of claims which in view present statistics and situation is a high powered fraud committed against unsuspecting students!

As per Dec 30, 2011, there were 11 government and 19 private medical colleges, with about eight offshore recognized medical programmes.

The strength of medical students in each medical faculty varies.

Two private colleges in the southern region with twinning programmes have 1,457 students here and another 1,229 overseas, with a total of 2,686.

A newly opened prestigious private university college has a total of 95 medical students.

As for those dreaming to be pilots there are 5 colleges set up churning out 300 pilots annually .

We are advise junior pilots graduate with 200 hours that allows them to fly small aircraft below 5,700kg.

If one is thinking of an airline 1,500 hours are needed further to stringent tests, training to qualify for a Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)!

Those already unemployed here is about 1.174 according to sources!

And where are all of them going after spending a fortune thanks to loans taken?

Those behind these institutions are certainly smiling – they already have made their fortunes thanks to these unsuspecting students who invested all wanting just to be educated and have a well paying job now facing huge debts even before starting!

And those behind this are untouchables as they eat, drink and socialize with Malaysia’s powerful and social and political elite!
