Consumerist: Hate Crimes & Racism Eats Into Malaysia!

Professionals my foot!

It is a shame that one is not aware of the negative impact by all this racist screams, hate mongering, sedition, criminal intimidation as it chips away at the country’s competitiveness, disenfranchises minorities of the land whose rights are guaranteed in the Federal Constitution and eventually dooms the nation in the wake of political, social and systemic changes in Indonesia China, India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Philippines, dooming us to the political and economic outback!

It also still puts paid to the millions spent wastefully on ill-gotten schemes of talent scouting abroad when domestic talents are treated so badly and leave for capitals where one’s dignity, decorum, political and economic decency prevails!

IF our founding fathers were alive today they will shed ‘tears of blood’ at what is happening here!

Despicable!

Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam (Cassa) president Datuk Dr Jacob George said it was introduced to encourage consumers to shop smart as well as ensure business owners provide good service.

“We have identified over 1,000 outlets ranging from hospitals, car repair shops to supermarkets including in Sabah and Sarawak and will do continuous monitoring before recognising them as Fair Price Premises.

“Periodical audits will also be done,” he said, during the launch of the programme in Asokan supermarket, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur recently.

A CONSUMER group has introduced a Fair Price Premises programme to recognise business owners who offer value for money.

Dr George added the programme will help ensure business owners maintained low prices.

“We will also work closely with business owners to help them resolve problems such as increasing rental rates and difficulty in obtaining employment passes for their foreign workers,” he said.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek, who was also present, said the escalating cost of living was a global issue and rising prices were influenced by climatic changes, supply and demand and foreign exchange fluctuations.

“The government has tried its best to cushion the impact, and programmes like this will definitely benefit both entrepreneurs and consumers,” he said.

Hasan hoped more outlets would take part in this and similar programmes to help lower the price of goods for consumers.

Asokan operations manager Subramaniam Musalianaidu said he was happy the supermarket was chosen as the first outlet to be recognised as a Fair Price Premises.

“We have always tried to set the best price for our goods to benefit customers,”

he said.

Dr George said they are hoping to develop a mobile app that would assist consumers in finding the closest Fair Price Premises from wherever they are.
