CONSUMERIST: MH370, CNN & MEDIA SPINS AND REALITY?

It will be two years tomorrow – I remember awakened in the early hours of a cold day, in the UK to be told, we lost a plane!

The next few weeks was to give the world a rare glimpse, how silly, stupid, incompetent, selfish, self serving and totally unprofessional many trusted with authority were?

That we were surrounded by idiots!

But this is no usual tragedy, that is linked to crashes, terrorism, hijacking or containing the usual ingredients but one that was unusual!

The 227 passengers and 12 crew on board came from 14 different countries.

The youngest victim of tragedy was then only 23-months old Wang Moheng.

The oldest passenger 76.

But this plane load was different from the nod – go!

Four passengers who boarded were under special investigation for stolen and other passport-related issues, twenty passengers were involved in cutting edge electronic technology used for defense purposes, including electronic warfare, such as weapons that can “cloak” or make planes invisible, appearing to vanish, there were others who may have not been who they really were?

The majority, 154, were Chinese, while other passengers were from America, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, the Netherlands, India, Ukraine, Russia, Taiwan and Indonesia.

Sadly, seven of the passengers were children.

The flight took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia early in the morning, bound for Beijing.

At 1:19 a.m., as the plane was flying over the South China Sea, we are told that Malaysian air traffic controllers radioed the crew to contact controllers in Ho Chi Minh City for the onward flight through Vietnamese airspace.

The crew’s acknowledgment of the request was the last thing ever heard from MH370: “Good night Malaysian three-seven-zero.”

Shortly afterward, air traffic controllers in Vietnam airspace were calling out and checking giving out alerts while Malaysians went to sleep?

Malaysia lost contact with the plane somewhere over the sea between Malaysia and Vietnam.

To me there was herein even a breach of international protocol under the terms stipulated by the Operational Letter of Agreement between the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and Vietnam Air Traffic Management!
Was there an inquiry and individuals reprimanded?

The aircraft’s transponder, which identifies the plane and relays details like altitude and speed to controllers, was alleged to have stopped transmitting and why?

MH370 seemingly disappeared without a trace or did it really?

Inexplicably, and to illustrate incompetence at the highest levels and at all levels of the command chain to which, none till today may have been reprimanded going against conventions, treatise and good governance and public accountability?

All right thinking, professional, sane individuals the world over must have been shocked flabbergasted when it was revealed by Malaysian authorities later that a military radar had tracked the plane as it inexplicably changed course, turned back to the west and flew across the Malaysian Peninsula, up the Strait of Malacca, before flying out of radar range at 2:14 a.m. and vanishing once again.

Why there was no official protocol response to such a reality, despite detecting MH370 on a rogue path, like sending up fighter jets scrambling – was never answered satisfactorily by any quarter – all covering for themselves and others in the chain of command in a land where free speech is looked upon as a ‘privilege’ rather than a constitutional right?

Why the secrecy?

Who are we protecting and at what costs?

I am also certain that in this age and time and with the sophistication of satellite technology and assets in the air and space for an airliner with 239 people on board to simply vanish is ridiculous!

The mystery of what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has gripped the world.

For the last two years the tabloids and media have had a field day disrespecting families that are still in a state of mourning and no closure with their many spins and theories, and claims of findings of debris even the media giants drawn to tragedy to raise their failing ratings!

For example media giants – CNN has seen its ratings soar by broadcasting nonstop coverage of the missing airplane.

An endless slide in CNN’s ratings and a perceptible drift in its command of the medium it pioneered, 24-hour cable news needed the kind of sustained traction and found it in MH370 vanishing?

Well done – Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of CNN!

But to my many friends globally, who have joined our resources to address this tragedy it is a betrayal of trust, a betrayal of what makes us human if we continue to stonewall, conspire to hid the truth or attempt to release or plant evidence in bits and pieces killing the living next of kin softly without closure!

And yes – tomorrow will be the second anniversary of the missing Flight MH370!

My friends and I have still many unanswered questions, even though there is naked silly boast with over 20 countries involved in the search over the last two years.

Till today I am concerned why there is no Royal Commission of Inquiry for this tragedy?

I am concerned why no white paper and debate in Parliament on this missing Boeing-777 matter?

I have asked also for a setting up of a SWAT Team of dedicated, professional, passionate team of local and foreign members of the civil society to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this matter funded by the 14 countries who have passengers on board!

Till today, embarrassingly there has only been one Interim Report published one year after the incident!

Is it not time and a professional response for another report by all authorities domestic and foreign, involved in the investigation – including the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation, the military, the police as well as the Joint Investigation Team and others?

Can I ask what has happened to the various issues of non-compliance and negligence highlighted in the interim first report?

What actions, if any, had been taken to make certain something like this will never happen again?

One final call!

Can I appeal to Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of CNN, if he could ask US President Barack Obama, if he could holding his Holy Bible in one hand answer a rather pertinent question?

I would word it as follows:

Mr President sir, can you please tell us, what really happened to MH370 that early hours of March 8th two years ago?

Consumerist: MH370 – The Family Need Closure Not More Media Spins!

Two years since the disappearance of MH370, with many of its twist and turns, finds, claims, counterclaims, allegations, spooks, even wild exposures, spin, it remains one of aviation’s greatest mysteries and one that will not go away despite inexplicable eerie silence from those who we expect to protect public policy, interest and most importantly, consumers who use the service of airlines and the MH370 families left behind without closure.

Yes, we also have millions of people and other groups both private citizens and others driven to take up a course to care and serve and do their bit by scouring satellite images of the oceans looking for pieces of debris or setting up conversations and the exchange of updates to keep the issue in the public forum which I am certain irritates the powers that be who want it gone – period!

Recently there is endless claims of breakthroughs and finds which is great for a media spin and photo shoots but hurting and reopens unhealed wounds among families and loved ones!

There was recently reports of wreckage of a crashed plane containing a Malaysian flag was found in a remote island in Southern Philippines, then there was that flaperon, which was found on La Reunion in July, by the French body responsible for civil aviation accident investigations.

If we remember at the time of the discovery on the French territory last month, Malaysian officials stated that it was ‘almost certain’ the wing flap came from a Boeing 777 – the same model as the Malaysian airlines jet.

The 6ft-long wing flap washed up 3,500 miles from the doomed jet’s last-known location, had really fueled hopes across the world that one of aviation’s greatest mysteries could finally be solved.

But since then that has gone cold too, despite my conversation with the DCA Chief when we had a conversation on what was to be expected as he checked in at the KLIA airport to fly out to France and with me flying to Vietnam!

But since that event – a piece of suspected plane wreckage was found on a beach in southern Thailand, prompting speculation it might belong to the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

The large piece of curved metal washed ashore in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, according to a local official.

Villagers discovered the piece of metal and reported it to the authorities to help identify it.

Villagers found the wreckage, measuring about 2metres wide and 3metres long (6.6 by 9.8 feet).

The find has sparked speculation in the Thai media that the debris could belong to MH370, which disappeared with 239 people on board during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.

There has been no official confirmation that the wreckage belongs to a plane.

The barnacle-covered piece of metal has some identifying features, which should help narrow down whether or not it came from a plane.

Of late my dear friend Blaine Gibson, is also in the news where a metal fragment was found in a sandbank off Mozambique.

It was being taken to Australia where it will be examined by international specialists and officials from Malaysia.

So far in all narratives throughout this two years all we are seeing is caution, irritating silence, no substantive discovery or claim whatsoever!

To the airlines in the center of this tragedy and other controversies, which includes their attempt to stay as a brand, economically and business relevance – “It is too speculative at this point to comment”

The Malaysian Transport Minister also urged caution.

Strangely, no one is paying attention to the sensitivity, rights, interests, of the family members of 239 that are still missing presumed dead by idiotic and moronic decree?
