MALAYSIA, ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE SAYS – TIME TO RECALL ALL OUR DIPLOMATS BOTH POLITICAL APPOINTEES AND OTHERS REPLACING THEM WITH TRUE PROFESSIONALS!

When Malaysian diplomats negotiate a treaty, attend a state dinner, or arrange a visa for a traveler or a trade delegation to spearhead trade with Malaysia, it is part and parcel of their mission—to represent the interests and policies of the Malaysia!

At least that is what is expected!

And I would not be wrong to say that beyond that the diplomats’ roles and responsibilities are immensely varied.

An ambassador is a nation’s highest-ranking representative to a specific nation or international organization abroad.

As such, to be effective, not to drop the ball, and proactive, an effective ambassador or consul general has to be a strong leader—a good manager, a resilient negotiator, and a respected representative of the nation which send them.
They will have to carry themselves with dignity and decorum!

They cannot be part of any controversy!

We cannot forget that a key role of an ambassador is to coordinate the activities not only of the Foreign Service Officers and staff serving under them but also representatives of other agencies from the same nation in a foreign jurisdiction!

At some overseas posts, personnel from many federal agencies work in concert with embassy staff.

It is a vital responsibility on foreign soil!

So are we choosing the right individuals for this posting!

Or is it of late given to any political appointee irrespective of one’s professionalism?

Or are there as in the past – an appointment given for one’s political support from one’s crony or party member?

But the Foreign Service Officers are expected to be professional, trained diplomats who represent Malaysian interests abroad under the direction of the ambassador.

All Foreign Service Officers listen to and observe what is going on in the host country, analyze it, and report to the ambassador and Putrajaya!

This facilitates policy deliberations to align one’s nation with the country of station and globally in totality!

In Malaysia’s case it is highly critical and of utmost importance that the right blend of character, academic background, experience and stature be selected in view the major issues from this part of the world from with international concerns on China’s expansion herein, to bilateral trade, trade wars, to political and state extremism, fanaticism, terrorism, corruption, trafficking issues, international money laundering scandals and so forth!

To be effective there should be five types of Foreign Service Officers and among them, Negotiators, Trade Representatives, Economic Officers, Management Officers,
Political Officers, Public Diplomacy Officers, Consular Officers!

And the pertinent question is do we have them?

Or do we have warm bodies being sent over for diplomatic functions who are more interested in kickbacks, initiating private and personal business and advocating their own financial and personal interest rather than the country as I found out in several countries I visited and confirmed with from my friends in high places in the diplomatic circle?

I am not just speaking about the countries I have personally visited in the APEC, ASEAN and South India continent but others where feedback are just so despicable and an embarrassment!

For example in the last country I visited both in Delhi and most importantly, Chennai the smell of stench far too difficult to ignore!

Why are we shortchanging ourselves by sending third rate individuals to represent a nation when all they do is look after their personal and private interest!

In Chennai, there are allegations of abuse at the highest levels!

There are allegations of the usage of the staff car and driver by the wife of an official and he instead takes the Huber?

There are allegations of no clock in and out?

When I visited the office the rest of the staff were there but not the point man!

His assisting was there a person of great integrity and decorum!

By the way, among the growing allegations, why should one bring one’s baby to office?

Have all Malaysian embassies now suddenly become baby friendly diplomatic offices, YB Minister of Foreign Affairs?

There are allegations that staff is abused verbally, their positions sabotaged, and ultimately they, victimized!

Is it true that there are some officials asking for kickbacks for tenancy agreements from local agents?

Is the allegation true that Malaysian visas are being outsourced and worked with conduits within the embassy raking in between INR1000.00 to INR5000.00 for fast track?

Who is raking in this money?

Who were the three immigration officers (as if I don’t know their names already!) who have since returned to Malaysia who are alleged to have abused their office while there and among them alleged to have brought back three or more ‘Bullet Motorbikes!”

I have their names already from sources in Chennai!

Questions are raised why is this Consulate General entertaining, singers, actors and actresses?

I have those photos as well!

In views of these allegations I immediately urge the Minister of Foreign Affairs, dear comrade Saifuddin Abdullah – to initiate an investigation and if true initiate a call back of the present Consul General at Chennai and spearhead investigations on the three immigration staff whose names are being mentioned in the corridors of other diplomats and locals!

This is embarrassing!

I will try my very best to have a word with him too during this parliamentary session privately!

It is time we recall third grades and do justice to our nation by only sending individuals of high and indisputable reputation, track record and integrity to represent our nation!

MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST DR JACOB GEORGE WARNS YOUTH LEADERS IN POLITICAL PARTIES TO BEHAVE AFTER TRYING TO QUESTION THE PM’S PREROGATIVE AT NAMING CABINET!

‘It is the Prime Minister who decides who will actually make up the Cabinet, and what portfolios will be assigned to each person – period!’

MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST DR JACOB GEORGE WARNS YOUTH LEADERS IN POLITICAL PARTIES TO BEHAVE AFTER TRYING TO QUESTION THE PM’S PREROGATIVE AT NAMING CABINET!

This is the problem with certain political parties youth wings!

They think they know all!

They cannot even grasp the real reasons for the victory at GE14!

They are cocky, arrogant, presumptions, unaware that the present opposition was defeated but not over-run and they still have a political life!

And if indeed the winners of GE14 keep reading the fig leaves wrongly or commit far too many U-turns and lack of political finesse they will be also replaced at GE15!

So again questioning the new Cabinet lineup for whatever reasons is foolish at best!

When one speaks of that the lineup did not reflect the “people’s aspirations” what does one mean?

Just because one party or another had won the most parliamentary seats does not make ‘Jack Shit!’ as far as the Cabinet composition is concerned!

My advice to these youth novices trying to be overnight political gladiators is just shut up!

If you are so powerful than you should have been fielded and won!

Once a Prime Minister is appointed it is his or her decision to name their cabinet!

A practice that is universally practiced!

Of course there could be discussions and advice and feedback being sought by the premier but no the final decision is entirely the premiers!

It is his cabinet!

Only a mental retard would suggest ‘practicing decision-making based on consensus under the guise that we need to build a new Malaysia new political culture at cabinet level?’

These misled vices should be careful as I asked a very pertinent quest weeks ago whether we had replaced one set of political shenanigans with another!

Seriously it is not yet 100 days after GE14 and just when you least expect it, they showed their true colors!

One wants to be foreign minister and unashamedly goes on record trying to justify it while others continue to lobby?

Perhaps, they think this is justified as the spoils of war or put in another way, the justification for most seats won?

But it is obvious their inexperience, lack of vision, ability to lead, humility begins to surface and embarrass the millions who made sacrifices to make their votes count!

Within a month that has been forgotten?

This is a disgrace indeed!

For these individuals, let me give you a quick course on the Prime Minister’s prerogative as is the convention globally unless you individuals are trying to rewrite it?

It is customary for the Prime Minister to exercise many of the powers that were formerly under the discretion of the Monarchy.

While these powers technically still belong to the Monarchy in certain jurisdictions, they are exercised completely on the advice of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister, for example, decides when to dissolve Parliament and when to call a general election.

It is even customary for the Prime Minister to choose who will be the Governor of certain states.

As for forming the Cabinet much of that is the power enjoyed by a Prime Minister and stems from his or her authority to form the Cabinet.

It is the Prime Minister who decides who will actually make up the Cabinet, and what portfolios will be assigned to each person.

Accordingly, Ministers owe their allegiance to the Prime Minister, who can promote or demote them, ask for their resignation, and, if necessary, dismiss them from Cabinet altogether.

These powers tend to keep Ministers clean, humble, both submissive and supportive of the Prime Minister and his/her policies and priorities.

That is not all, as appointing public servants in addition to appointing Cabinet Ministers, the Prime Minister also has the power to dictate who holds many key offices in the public service.

This includes the appointment of Senators, Supreme Court judges, deputy ministers, and heads of government agencies, boards, and corporations.

The ability to exercise such power helps keep a Prime Minister’s ‘followers’ on side, while allowing a Prime Minister to impose his/her ideological stamp on much of government.

In this way, a Prime Minister who believes in a particular vision of how government should function can use the powers of the Prime Minister’s Office to appoint persons of like-minded thinking to key government positions.

These are not all, as in addition to these responsibilities, the Prime Minister also has significant powers over the actual organization of government.

Subject to usual routine of Parliamentary approval, the Prime Minister has the ability to create new departments and agencies, transform or abolish old ones, and privatize or nationalize industries and corporations.

He or she also has the power to assign specific mandates and priorities to individual government departments and agencies, with or without the permission of the responsible Cabinet Minister.

Now let us get to the meat of today’s argument, lest we forget, the Prime Minister is often seen as the nation’s chief diplomat.

This is particularly true in the modern era of summit diplomacy when Heads of Governments regularly meet with one another on a face-to-face basis.

Let us as voters remind all and sundry that the number of seats won at GE14 are neither the justification nor priority for ministerial appointments but a well-rounded and experienced academic background, talent, experience, zero tolerance to corruption and humility!

I remind these political upstarts that the fact is and will remain, that without Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad coming out of retirement and doing the impossible, Barisan Nasional (BN) would have won with all the super cheating, the present ‘Prime Minister in waiting’ would be serving his full term in prison and out of politics for good and another would be serving time in prison!

Several others would have been charged for sedition and other offenses as well?

I appeal to all the winners of GE14, please do carry yourselves with dignity and decorum of office and not as political predators and scavengers treating positions in politics as the spoils of war!

IMMIGRATION RAIDS – OUTRAGE FROM FOREIGN & LOCALS SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST!

‘I am also aware who were the dark hands who were instrumental in Malaysia being ‘invaded’ by foreigners under various guises – students, maids, workers, ‘professionals, businessmen, investors’, Malaysia my second home, former DP10 and its replacement and not forgetting the legalization attempts gone rogue of illegals!’

IMMIGRATION RAIDS – OUTRAGE FROM FOREIGN & LOCALS SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST!

I had just congratulated the Director General of Malaysia’s Immigration for addressing the massive presence of illegals in Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak!

Of course he did not return a response – perhaps far too busy or who knows I may be a persona non grata as far as he is concerned!

After all I have only being monitoring and addressing issues pertaining to the home ministry from the time of our former deputy prime minister now – Tun Musa Hitam from the 80s?

What would I know?

I must be pretty stupid, right?

So I am not surprised to be drawn in to feedback from both diplomats’ abroad and Malaysian industry captains, players and consumers whose employees namely maids were caught in various draw nets thrown without a common sense approach!

I even received a call from a dear diplomat friend very close to the Philippines President very concerned at the screenshots and recordings sent to them!

It is as if there is a war declared on foreigners?

Do we not care for the dignity of those legal ones caught in the raid?

I have just returned from a comprehensive visit to several Malaysian towns and namely Kuala Lumpur to know that there is no doubt in my mind that we have been ‘invaded’ by foreigners working and managing various sector work both as workers or managers!

I am aware that this is no coincidence or just a new happening!

I am also aware who were the dark hands who were instrumental in Malaysia being ‘invaded’ by foreigners under various guises – students, maids, workers, ‘professionals, businessmen, investors’, Malaysia my second home, former DP10 and its replacement and not forgetting the legalization attempts gone rogue of illegals!

I am also aware and been well updated on both the politicians, players, officialdom involved in this racket!

So yes it is convenient to place Malaysia on a ‘war footing’ against illegals without going to the source and also at the same real time sacking officialdom who are and have been involved in this racket from time immemorial!

They are not just at Putrajaya both all over, even at our foreign embassies as I found out after my recent visit to India and certainly Chennai!

This has always being a multi million ringgit operation and everyone knows about it so cut the super bullshit!
I challenge anyone who disagrees with me to an official debate over the Malaysian networks!

‘Berani mari lah!’

So I am indeed saddened that once again Malaysia’s image and reputation has been damaged by an act or a series of action that were not seriously thought through, managed, driven with carefully positioned ‘Oversight Committee of respected civil society leaders!’

Resulting in an employer taking to Facebook to describe the ordeal of her Filipino helper who was reportedly detained and handcuffed by the authorities during an immigration raid on Sunday.

Lynn Townley said her helper, who was taken at the Kotaraya Shopping Complex in Kuala Lumpur along with 300 others, had a copy of her passport and a picture of her visa.

“But instead of checking the documents, they loaded everyone into buses like animals and made them wait without water for five hours,” she added.

According to Townley, her helper was handcuffed to 10 other people suspected of working illegally, who were chained together the entire time with officers even making them go to the bathroom as a group.

“They were taken to Malaysian Immigration, Putrajaya.
Several of the legal employers were present, with the original documents, desperately trying to talk to the detained individuals or officers, but were yelled at and refused to listen to the employers.

“My helper has been working for me for 10 years, always legal and a kind and caring member of our TTDI community,” Townley added.

“She was released with bruises on her wrists from the handcuffs and marker on her arms from being tagged like a criminal.

She continued stating:

‘I understand the need to check documents and tighten down on illegal workers, but this process was absolutely unnecessary and cruel.” Her post was accompanied by pictures of the marks on her helper’s arms and of the detained individuals seated on the floor behind yellow immigration department tape.

At real time her post made waves on social media, with many criticizing the way in which the detainees were treated.
This is 2018!

There are diplomats and foreigners watching the script when their citizens are being treated such!

To me this kind of official behavior is super outrageous and totally unacceptable!

I appeal to dear friend, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to set up a commission comprising of stakeholders and civil society leaders to address the whole question of foreign workers need, supply, approvals, illegals within, conduits working hand in glove with traffickers and others for financial interest and kickbacks, super corruption and certainly today, an over-supply of foreign workers in Malaysia!

Better – name and shame all those in officialdom and outside who are the conduits and shenanigans in this human trade!
