TIMELY ADVICE TO MPS FROM BELOVED KING SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE
I was very disturbed reading the political rhetoric and the ideas being thrown around by certain MPs, their base and political shenanigans!
Specifically, their call to weaponise the Budget 2021 for a political agenda.
In all fairness, I agree that the quality of several appointed to the cabinet, its sheer numbers and the manner several were given posh second appointments created a tsunami of shocks and shivers and shouts of impropriety.
And several MPs instead of winning over the people, behaved in a manner where in similar situation abroad had public interests demanding they resigned, and many were also sacked.
Here there was that eerie elegant silence.
And that did not help gain any legitimacy to those falling over each other making both hate and political speeches, some eagerly digging into their race, religion, and diversion political playbook.
I just do not understand these politicians who are so full of themselves and in the first time in the nation’s history their political notoriety and greed was plain obvious to all.
And in this climate I cannot but give thanks to the Almighty that our beloved King had again reminded our MPs of their political call – to serve the nation and its people now facing multi-tier challenges, as never before.
And concerned, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has advised all MPs to support the Budget 2021 for the well being of the people and to heal the economy following the Covid-19 pandemic.
He has also again reminded to put an end to political bickering.
Now on the part of the government it has its work cut out and MPs and the people need to know about Budget 2021.
We need to know where is the money coming from, where it is going to be used, how the allocation is done.
We are talking about transparency and accountability!
IF indeed this is a budget to address Covid 19 then it must be made clear through a process clearly defined where there is no room for abuse, for allocation to pop up certain politicians’ pet grandiose projects and utter wastage.
This is not the time for more white elephants projects and airports when there are more important needs.
Money is tight now and there is no room for abuse.
There must be a justification for each proposed allocation, the allocations must be free from political prejudice and ‘tit for tat’ making certain all states benefit!
Our beloved king’s call is for all political parties to give support to Budget 21.
And certainly in the spirit of ‘give and take’ we should make certain that opposition states and its people are not discriminated as well!
And it will be IF indeed it is a peoples’ budget!
May the Almighty help us all do the right things!
