SIDE-LINING TRUTH ADVOCATES HAS CAUSED SELANGOR DEARLY SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE

So the Health Ministry believes that a full version of the movement control order (MCO) may be the way to go for Selangor, given the high number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in the state.

I had predicted as early as last year that it was just a matter of time that Selangor would take a major lead in the spikes and stay there for some time.

For those of us who were on the ground from day one who recorded the recklessness and wanton disregard to the Covid-19 protocols, the embarrassing lack of co-ordination and planning that started with the self-serving and selfish queue jumping by politicians, their dependents and hangers-on hereinafter referred to as the ‘new front liners?’

True, the definition of front liners took a bashing when certain quarters decided to have their own justification who gets what, when, where and why?

If you thought that as politicians and leaders they will first safeguard our medical front liners followed by the senior citizens you were wrong!

The Selangor Politicians without shame decided they are the most important on the scale of things.

They shamelessly left the most other vulnerable group of senior citizens on the onset.

As I write this piece frustrated vaccine recipients took to social media to complain to put simply – the strategic organization of the vaccination process or raising questions when these senior will have their day in for vaccination.

Today the Selangor numbers are up again.

There are reports that bodies are stacked up in cargo containers.

That quarantine centers are over-run.

Hospital facilities are running full.

There is no sign of falling infections.

The DG of Health services has already stated that cases can go up to 8000 and more soon if we fail to follow SOPs and protocols.

The traffic on Selangor roads inexplicable makes a joke of the MCO!

Is there something terribly wrong about this Selangor Government that arrogance that one sees?

Are they comfortable with truth speakers?

I have lived in Selangor for the last 27 years.

Served as the Joint Chairman for the Selangor state Consumer Council of the Ministry of Domestic trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, an appointment by the said Minister for 5 terms, the founder and President of the Consumers Association of Subang and shah Alam, Selangor hereinafter known as Cassa Malaysia, who have worked tirelessly as a front-liner, opinion shaper, represented the state at the National Consumer Council and eventually one of the council members advising the honorable minister on current issues, response to issues, addressing the various issues on a national platform through the mainstream media both print and electronic.

So whether it is an issue on price manipulation, the escalation of costs of living and services, the lack of essential goods, pollution of our water resources, water cuts, scandals, corruption, abuse of power, the point person for the media and the intelligentsia.

An individual who was appointed to Federal Government’s council on escalation of cost of living issues and services as well.

These appointments and services pro-bono were not valued.

Only once called for consultation on a state issue and that during the tenure of MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim.

Never in my life have I lobbied for something personal.

But will not deny my disappointment at the manner certain stakeholder isolate you from recognition in Selangor!

I spoke about this with my Uncle the late Dato Anthonysamy Savarimuthu, that brilliant and dedicated Football Association of Selangor (FAS) Secretary.

He was always a straight shooter and he just said ‘Jacob, it is their loss not yours! Keep your head high!’

Today our numbers in Selangor are 1650!

Is it not time to bring on board those who have a track record of service and in my case more than 40 years as a lead consumer advocate to address the current challenge?

COVID 19 – WHEN MOSQUES, SURAUS, VVIPS AND THE RECALCITRANT COMMUNITIES BREACH SOPS THE BATTLE IS LOST SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE

COVID 19 – WHEN MOSQUES, SURAUS, VVIPS AND THE RECALCITRANT COMMUNITIES BREACH SOPS THE BATTLE IS LOST SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE

There are 470,110 infected.

There are 41,889 active cases to date.

We have 1902 fatalities.

All the above numbers will change again upwards by the end of the day.

Selangor continues to lead in the head count for the infection numbers.

Today we also read about the dead being stored in containers!

And the embarrassing behavior of those expected to enforce the SOPs in religious houses, namely mosques and Suraus failing desperately by giving friendly reminders and advice rather than enforce the – Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases)2021!

In May last year was there not a total of 927 cases which were classified as patients under investigation (PUIs) for Covid-19 were found to have epidemiological links to the Seri Petaling tabligh gathering?

Did not then our Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah state that brings the number of cases linked to the cluster to 3,347, compared to 2,375 previously.

He said this was confirmed after further investigations were conducted by the state and district health departments and offices, as well as the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).

Does it not mean that then the Seri Petaling cluster and sub-clusters contributed 48 per cent to the total number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia?

Then we have another cluster of the VVIPs, the Politicians and celebrities who think they are above the law who also break the ACT.

We still have emerging threats from the foreign workers, foreigners in the country under dubious claims, our manufacturing and construction sectors, the educational institutions and that potent threat where crowds converge for purchasing meals.

It is simply shocking to see that indifference, that arrogance, that cockiness to the tenets of the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 2021)!

Now with fear amounting, chaos and disarray on vaccinations, I must again appeal to the Prime Minister to please reassign all matters which includes the vaccination process under the single authoritative framework and leadership of the Ministry of Health and under Director General of Health Services Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

As lead consumer advocate with over 40 years track record I say but this that this is not the time for politicians to play political games with the lives and interests of all Malaysians.

And a double portion of love and gratitude for our front-liners at the Ministry of Health, Malaysia!

ARE DOCUMENTED AND UNDOCUMENTED FOREIGN WORKERS CREATING COVID HAVENS IN MALAYSIA ASK MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE

The health ministry has reported 4113 covid cases and 34 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Selangor continues to retain its supremacy at 1269 cases.

I feel very sad for our frontliners and of course the Director General of Health Service Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham bin Abdullah.

Can we put aside our politics and for once address the clear and present danger before us?

I write this piece after receiving footage on the behavior of foreigners in the country which confirms that they are and will never conform to the SOPs laid forth to address the Covid 19 spike.

Even the recent Hari Raya/Eid Mubarak celebration gatherings by them in several areas in the country raise serious concern.

And we do not need foreigners living in this country on visa masquerading as ‘consultants’ to school us how to address such issues either in our whole country.

These undocumented and documented foreigners are all over the place.

Accommodation for those documented still an issue with various stakeholders and other saying different things at different time as if we are all idiots.

We already have the Workers Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990 but?

The irony as I see it is industry captains and super rich power-houses agree that the amendments to Act 446, in light of the Covid-19 outbreak, was good for the industry in enhancing the living environment that is conducive for all workers including foreign workers and ensuring a healthy and productive workforce which is a critical component to make Malaysia an advance country that adheres to the stipulated International Labour Organisation (ILO) conditions!

They reiterate that the amendments are also meant to streamline the domestic standards with that of international standards given that Malaysia is largely a trading nation and part of global supply chains but those statements are followed by a subtle – but we need more time excuse?

And has our policymakers fallen for yet again?

This is embarrassing.

Many live in flats in the vicinity of Malaysians, others in rented homes in housing estates in cramped conditions, while the undocumented ones are even daring and free as they have already created for example – ‘Bangladeshi and Rohingya ghettos’ in rural areas, some having married local girls while others in the process.

Marrying a local girl is a fast track in terms legalizing in Malaysia!

I have written extensively on this matter and the social issues that come from this and the security threats to expect in the present and future.

We have yet to seriously address the undocumented foreigners in our midst as every time we try we have both local and foreign busy-bodies creating controversies.

I have repeatedly conveyed my views at the Home and Defense Ministries.

And I have stated that in view of the current pandemic and knowing fully well that both documented and undocumented groups will not follow launched SOPs it is best to introduce the ‘the immigration catch and release doctrine!’

It is time to catch those floating the legislation and releasing them in a flight to their home country after processing.

It is also time we disallow industry captains and cartels to impact public policy by allowing the reopening of the country to new influx of foreign workers when the huge number already here certainly a clear and present danger.

As for them all they crave for is huge profits at the expense of cheap labor, the cartels huge commissions from the traffic and those who despite the danger approve I wonder what their motivations are?

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN MALAYSIA – EXCELLENT ADVISORY TO VICTIMS A FMT ARTICLE!

For two days we have been running our response to the whole issue of domestic violence in Malaysia and of new diabolical trends!

The support and response from stakeholders, members of the government agencies, the Police, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Women NGOs have been brilliant.

Today we have Free Malaysia Today running an excellent article on further data and information that will assist victims of this despicable acts!

Checklist for survivors of domestic violence who need help

PETALING JAYA: The recent revelation that 902 domestic violence cases were reported in the first four months of 2021 has raised concerns among activists that abuse is on the rise.

The Women’s Aid Organisation said the pandemic had worsened the issue of domestic violence, especially under the movement control order.

WAO research and advocacy officer Anis Farid said the figure was startling as the government’s “Talian Kasih” helpline only received 651 cases of domestic violence in 2018.

Anis talked to FMT about how those suffering from domestic violence can get help.

Important things to remember

Once you decide you want to get help, remember you are not alone. Keep any evidence of physical abuse, such as pictures of injuries. Tell someone what you’re experiencing. If there are children at home, help them to identify a safe place to hide. Pack an emergency bag that includes important documents, money, clothes and keep it somewhere safe.

What should you do?

There are several 24-hour lines which you can contact for help:

  • Police (999)
  • WAO Hotline (03-30008858)
  • WAO SMS or Whatsapp Line also known as TINA (0189888058)\
  • “Talian Kasih” hotline (15999) or Whatsapp (0192615999)

Save these numbers under different names to prevent your partner from discovering them.

Head to a “One Stop Crisis Centre” (OSCC) at the emergency room of any government hospital for free treatment and assistance. It is not mandatory to make a police report for domestic violence in order to get medical treatment.

You can also obtain an “Emergency Protection Order” (EPO) by calling Talian Kasih or your nearest Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat office to make sure your abuser keeps their distance.

An EPO is valid for 7 days, the next step will be to apply for an Interim Protection Order (IPO) or Protection Order (PO). You can apply for this at a police station.

Then what?

Make a police report. You can report any act or threat of violence. In your police report, write down the details of the abuse, such as what happened, when it happened (date and estimated time), where it happened, and who was involved.

It is important to remember to get a copy of the police report. If you don’t want to press charges but would like to document the incident, you can make a “cover report” instead of an “action report”.

“WAO advises a survivor to make a report because it’s good to have a paper trail and documentation just in case anything happens. It can be useful moving forward in building a case against the abuser.

“Filing a report can also help a survivor get protection orders issued, which basically functions as a restraining order,” she said.

Anis said although domestic abuse survivors and their family members could apply for IPOs at the police station it was not applicable to non-married couples.

She said one of the biggest gaps in Malaysia’s laws was that it only recognised domestic violence within the confines of marriage.

“We urge the government to amend the law to ensure non-married domestic abuse survivors are better protected.

“Overall, our legal system needs to be survivor-centered. Survivors must feel supported every step of the way from the doctors at clinics to the police officers to the lawyers and the judges.

“Don’t be afraid to seek help, you are not alone. We’re here to support and guide you.”

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN MALAYSIA – ARE PERPETRATORS USING NEW TACTICS OF THREATS, INTIMIDATION, TROLLING, DEFAMING ASK MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE (Part 2)

Yesterday we ran cases of scandalous happenings in domestic violence cases in Malaysia where we asked if perpetrators are using new tactics of defaming victims as suffering from schizophrenia or other illness?

Today, I want to thank all those who reverted to me especially leaders of women groups, leading female media activists, former and current ministers and others confirming their support for CASSA MALAYSIA in exposing such despicable behavior and those who aid, abet and promote shenanigans masquerading as innocent and blameless?

More so, IF allegedly one’s attempt is to stifle and prevent a defendant appointing a solicitor and in filing one’s response to a misleading and fraudulent affidavit.

Than using the general line of government agencies to defame a defendant?

More so, after allegedly carrying out illegal surveillance and photo taking.

I am truly delighted as well that leaders of Women group’s advice victims to immediately make Police Reports and get the Police to track who these mysterious individuals are attempting to subvert the process of justice!

In some cases, it is shocking that it is done to prevent evidence been presented to the courts of a plaintiff’s or defendants adultery and other despicable behavior during the course of one’s marriage.

Sometime the alleged adultery are well documented in the handwriting of the either the Plaintiff or defendant to their lover.

It is about time that as a nation we stop such tactics and those behind them directly, indirectly or by proxies.

It is time we as a nation stand by our women who are victims of domestic violence and any process targeting them to nullify their day in court and to justice.

I want to thank friends in the government agencies especially the Police who are coming on board to assist any victims of violence or other such despicable acts.

It is about time that we also unmask those who aid such endeavors whosoever they are.
