‘As for me, I come with the knowledge, experience, the government relations and stakeholders trust to deliberate and manage all protocols therein end to end!
And at the time of writing, I am looking for a new adventure and available for long term assignment!’
BAN LIFT ON MALAYSIAN GLOVE MAKER A WELCOME MOVE SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST DR JACOB GEORGE.
During the to and fro of that massive manipulation of facts, and the covert information smear, I walked the phones and my deliberations with high powered policymakers across borders on the allegations.
I felt sad and sorry that so much damage was done with fake data and allegations that hurt not just a company but the very demography one had claimed to want to protect – the workers!
I had always appealed that data and information gathering was vital but so was the source it was collected from.
From experience and as an individual involved in the policy deliberations and planning and total execution of over a government approval of 7000 foreign workers on a ‘free visa free ticket’ alienating cartels, agencies, middlemen and women, power groups and political shadows in the corridor of power, I launched the very successful employment and migration of qualified workers from source countries to work in a very well respected MNC in Malaysia!
It was not without dangers and threats to my life and limb or a well-executed and financed attack on my integrity, dignity and decorum.
I survived it all, because the powers that be knew and fully supported my efforts though they feared for my safety!
My strongest strength was the very close friendship I had nurtured with the over 7000 workers.
The Malaysian government was delighted that we launched such a program the first of its kind, the MNC employer was fully visionary, committed and dedicated to the task at hand and despite challenges we pulled it off!
It was a challenge as we aligned to wean off outsourcing companies and other predators and rascals within and their tentacles of power and planned the air-lift of 7000 workers from Nepal and Vietnam which demanded we work with their respective governments, stakeholders, the airlines and security agencies!
It was done!
For me it was the most memorable task I was ever entrusted from end to end and to see those 7000 taking up jobs in a very respected company who valued and gifted their employees a near perfect employment and career.
So when the current controversy erupted my name was heighted to the various companies in Malaysia and the region who were having major issues advising them to offer me a consultancy to trouble shoot and address government relations issues therein.
But that call never came.
22 months later, I am indeed glad that the United States has lifted a ban on a Malaysian medical glove maker it had accused of using forced labor, a government statement showed, amid a surge in demand for personal protective equipment to fight the coronavirus crisis.
Whether this is temporary in view the Covid-19 pandemic or not it provides a platform for Malaysian and foreign companies in Malaysia to ask themselves whether an individual with my track record and experience would be helpful as they go forward if their employees are foreigners.
Gloves are in huge demand because of the spread of the virus that has infected more than 377,000 people across 194 countries and territories with more than 16,500 deaths.
For the record, the United States is the world’s biggest consumer of medical gloves per person.
As for me, I come with the knowledge, experience, the government relations and stakeholders trust to deliberate and manage all protocols therein end to end!
And at the time of writing I am looking for a new adventure and available for long term assignment!
