BUDGET 2019 ROCKS SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST PROF DR JACOB GEORGE!
If you care to read my earlier blog posting hours before the budget 2019 presentation at Parliament you will notice that I had picked the critical 7 categories where I felt the impact will be and so it was!
I was also glad that the Finance Minister had given as part of the introduction of the said 2019 national budget speech, a post mortem of the earlier budget success and failures and why, coupled with how this new budget 2019 will depart from with those experiences, setbacks and now focuses on!
Then as I wrote there are seven key areas of interest namely:
1. Cost of living issues
7. Labor/Human Resources
In all of the above there were well put allocations put aside to address an upgrade and concerns.
The budget was people friendly – certainly!
On a policy level stretch – the decision by the federal government under Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to address comprehensive systemic reforms in our public institutions of governance must be lauded.
Secondly, the decision by the new government despite the financial commitments and challenges left behind by the past tenants at Putrajaya, especially looking at the real felt needs of the consumers must be lauded.
And thirdly, the decision to empower the same demography cannot but be looked upon as a brilliant strategy so that both the government and the people are aligned leaving no room for political adventurers, fascists, religious and racial baiters, disgraced and rejected politicians any room to create disharmony!
It is now important that all Malaysians do their part to work closely and sacrificially to make Budget 2019 a reality!
