“We need a new team of skilled and respected individuals, not multi million ringgit costing, spin masters and lobbyists from the west!

We need these Malaysian individuals who have a track record of dedicated self-service and sacrifice to serve bring an alignment between the actors, stakeholders of Malaysian politics and the civil society – so that truly we can put aside our difference and move forward as a nation respected by all!

The old ways of threats, intimidation, Gestapo tactics will not work – it will only destroy a nation, we all worked so hard to put on the international map!”

Consumerist: Malaysia Needs Peacemakers Not War Mongers! And We Need To Address All Forms Of Corruption!

A front page print media byline screams at Malaysians entitled – “Time To Unite!”

But how can Malaysians unite, when in the same breathe there are newly minted politicians trying to outsmart each other by issuing the most idiotic and foolish statements?

What about another, who continues to threaten, taunt, make sweeping statements, without showing an iota of respect, to the federal constitution, the laws of the land on accountability, good governance or the tenets of the various institution of government or governance?

Let alone show tangible evidence to his many claims and comments to date after making bravo statements?

Interestingly, one’s daughter has now gone on record to slam Malaysians, who participated in the rally as stupid?

Is this a wise move?

We live in rather interesting times, both nationally and in the global village, and UN Charters on Human Rights, so I will reserve my comments on such idiocy and arrogance!

Time will tell how it all fans out but immediately, several issues come to mind!

First, there are threats and whether these threats will result in another action that the global world will immediately recognize, as an abuse of power, if balaclava clad special forces teams are being readied to smash the doors of Bersih organizing committee members whose rally has won the admiration and respect of those in the Police Force for a rally without any form of incident that runs contrary to UN values?

What happened was a display of internationally-recognized rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

Freedom of expression and peaceful assembly are internationally guaranteed rights, that Malaysia if she wants to remain a UN member, and bound to respect, and if those indulging in verbal diarrhea of threats need further enlightenment, we can ask the UN to provide a copy of its Universal Declaration of Human Rights!

As per the rally, it was a global event and if we decide by our narrow political mindset, and political expediency, that the interest of one overrides, the rights and interest of a nation, its institutions of governance, its Federal Constitution, the rule of law, even the nations’ central bank and it policies – we are dammed!

I will predict that the first casualty then, would be that there will be calls for international sanctions on Malaysian politicians of their travels, their investments and bank accounts in foreign banks being frozen, till there is proof on the legitimacy of their funds abroad?

Already the UK government have started looking at properties bought in the UK by politicians and it is important that this streak be continued globally!

We have already seen that threats do not work – it is time to use common sense and the ideas of proactive and holistic engagement, and for that to happen, wrongs must be acknowledged, the nation’s institutions of governance and that of rule of law must be respected!

Those who have abused our trusts and undermined the nation’s institutions must be asked to politically retire!

We cannot run a nation using Gestapo tactics, not in this age and time, even racial and religious mind games and politics!

We need a new team of skilled and respected individuals, not multi million ringgit costing spin masters and lobbyists from the west!

We need these individuals who have a track record of dedicated self-service and sacrifice to serve bring an alignment between the actors, stakeholders of Malaysian politics and the civil society – so that truly we can put aside our difference and move forward as a nation respected by all!

The old ways of threats, intimidation, Gestapo tactics will not work – it will only destroy a nation, we all worked so hard to put on the international map!

May the ALMIGHTY help us do the right thing!
