Consumerist: MIC At Crossroads With Political Opportunists, Sex Tapes Allegations and Lacking Winnable Candidates?
Some politicians think just by rubbing shoulders with UMNO politicians and placing huge posters and banners alongside Premier Najib’s Tun Razak’s face will assure them a seat or a win in the next General Election!
They are wrong! Dead wrong!
While in several parts of Peninsula Malaysia other political predators and opportunists, who were hoping for a seat ‘post Samy Velu era’ are in a shock and now threatening to go in the opposite direction as if we cared if they are nominated or not as election candidates!
In the state of Perak, where larger constitutional and other issues will be paramount in the forthcoming elections, an idiot has attempted to ‘steal the thunder’ by claiming that a prominent Perak MIC leader was caught on video having sex with a sex worker!
Now who really cares about these issues these days?
It just shows how misplaced and displaced the objectives of these opportunist are flogging a dead horse repeatedly!
Instead of going to the ground and helping in the dissemination of information, raising awareness, organizing campaigns, and seeing to the rights interests and fulfilling the needs of the Indian electorate, addressing issues close to their hearts and interests – poverty, marginalization, single mothers, alcoholism, crime, unemployment, micro credit, education, identity cards, passports, temple issues, scholarships, housing, jobs, further vocational training, it is again all about gutter politics of trying to bring disrepute and damage to individuals and political opponents by a media trial rather than by substantiating allegations!
Is these not a clandestine immoral effort of threats, blackmail and worse, the abusing of a nation’s democratic space for a personal agenda and political greed?
As such, I agree with dear friend, MIC vice-president M Saravanan who stated quite rightly that ‘with news of elections around the corner, it’s golden opportunity for anybody who wants to damage the credibility of a leader’ but he is also again correct to say even without a ‘single shred of evidence” been adduced.
For the record, the MIC suffered the most massive defeat in its history in the 2008 general election when it retained only three of the nine parliamentary seats and six of the 19 state seats it contested!
Therefore, it is pertinent that dear friend, the present party president accept the reality that GE13 whenever one has the political courage to call it, is going to be certainly not a ‘walk in the park’ and there is a possibility the MIC may be wiped off completely, exact for one seat!
Therefore making more certain that he does have quality, baggage free and winnable candidates on his side – not one full of ‘Yes Master’, apple polishers and ass lickers, among them ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing?’
