‘I think it is time all Malaysians stand down playing the race and religion card as I see that is the only formula that can bring us back to normalcy and from the brinkmanship of racial and religious chaos!

Consumerist: SMK Alam Megah Principal Has Apologized – Let It Rest, Publicity Hungry Politicians Told!

It takes a great person to apologize and she has and as far as I am concerned the matter must be put to rest and we should get on to seeing how we can serve our constituents better!

I am advised that the principal of SMK Alam Megah in Shah Alam is said to have admitted that she told Indian and Chinese students to ‘return to India and China’ during a school assembly two days ago.

But she has also apologized.

There was no malice in her outburst at misbehaving students but perhaps in that situation it may have gone over-board.

The principal apparently made the remarks because students were being noisy while the national anthem was being sung.

She too felt she should not have made those remarks and that it was in the heat of the moment!

But like I said she has apologized and to me it takes great humility and remorse to want to apologize!

Perhaps to the political and individuals of lesser minds an apology will not suffice!

Perhaps, they feel the principal has belittled the non-Malay students in the presence of the Malays students which is very traumatic and it can lead to profiling!

The insulting words chosen gives an impression that is bandied around by many Malaysian politicians which gives minorities a lesser in status and citizenry.

Yes, I do agree the statement can dent and perhaps have a likelihood that the patriotic pride of the innocent students has taken a severe battering and evoked feelings of inferiority in the presence of their Malay friends.

I think it is time all Malaysians stand down playing the race and religion card as I see that is the only formula that can bring us back to normalcy and from the brinkmanship of racial and religious chaos!

I think that all parties and that includes the government – let the matter rest as we all have more important duties to address!

To the publicity hungry and bankrupt politicians trying to make a name for yourself by making a mountain out of petty issues for your own political agenda, or playing up race and religious issues – go get yourself a life!
