Consumerist: Threatening Those Who Spearhead Anti-corruption Drives!

In my over 39 years of active consumer advocacy – I have had my fair share of threats, attacks, death threats, my car damaged and in one case, near death by an unidentified assailant (s) trying to drive me off a bridge!

Scary!

The Malaysian media have covered many of those reports and they keep coming in new forms because those corrupt are fearful of those having zero tolerance for what the corrupt do.

The same with those corrupt in the manpower industry – where there are enough testimony how this industry has been so tarnished by high powered corruption and the exploitation of those who are so marginalized and down trodden that they have to sell what little they have or worst, take loans from loan sharks under the representations of those who claim they are giving these individuals a new life at higher earning power in a foreign land?

At the end of it all, those taken up by these false and criminal representations are experiencing is their lives turn from bad to worse in a foreign land and many times made instant criminals by the actions and omissions of those who trafficked them or offered them nonexistent high paying jobs after taking the formers life’s savings!

I want to encourage those who take a stand that this form of behavior must be stopped and we must work to provide a place where these individuals can work with their dignity and sense of value intact and not in a dehumanized condition!

If for fighting to bring holistic change to these defenseless groups will result in us been targeted, maliciously attacked or defamed – so be it!

I am reminded the words of the Prophet Isaiah in – Isaiah 1:17

‘Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.’
