MALAYSIA’S TV3 AND ITS SILLY, STUPID INSENSITIVE AND FACTUALLY WRONG DESCRIPTION OF US VICE PRESIDENT ELECT KAMALA DEVI HARRIS

What a massive cork up by Malaysia’s TV3!

What a classic blunder which offers an insight on Malaysia?

TV3 has since apologised for describing United States vice-president-elect Kamala Devi Harris as “anak pendatang tanpa izin dari India” (child of an illegal immigrant from India) in its Buletin 1.30.

The Buletin TV3 segment featured Harris’ speech in Delaware following her election, where the newscaster said: “Kamala, 56, has made history in the US with her election as the first woman vice-president.

She also made history for being the first black woman and of Asian descent to hold the second most important post in America.”

“The child of a Jamaican and an illegal immigrant from India ‘broke stigma’ when she became the first woman attorney-general of California…”

It is rather silly, stupid at a time our politicians are falling over each other sending congratulatory messages trying to curry favor with the incoming 46th US President.

Despite knowledge that the incoming President has already stated in his victory speech that we should never threat our political opponents as enemies, something entrenched in the racist political flavor of several nations.

The truth about Kamala’s heritage is that Harris’ late mother Shyamala Gopalan was a biomedical scientist who had settled in the US.

This is a classic example how we do things which shows the deep embedded racism despite the cosmetics.

For the record, Kamala’s late mum was born in Chennai, India and moved to the US at the age of 19 to study at the University of California before she met and married (Harris’) dad.

But it is again obvious the prejudice, the rather crude, uncivilized reaction of actors here, and that of their unwashed, unschooled followers nailed the myth about tolerance while burying its multiracial branding for good.

Well done TV3!
