ROAD CARNAGE – THE DAY AFTER NONSENSE STATEMENTS EMERGE!
27 people died in the last carnage and believe me this is not the last – neither will it be the last time we hear stupid untenable statements coming from various quarters all saying their two cents worth!
Expect Malaysia’s media lead by the politically connected TV3 to lead various stories not far behind there will be the others with quotes and assurances and we have heard them all before!
As I always say, if only Malaysian politicians attack social and other problems like they attack each other with so much determination and imagination Malaysia will be ‘Shangrila on earth!’
But no, they hold their best against their political foes like ‘little children fighting and bitching’ and using their spin-masters in the mainstream media!
In this latest incident the said vehicle had been traveling along a winding road after leaving the hilltop resort when it crashed into the ditch at the bottom of a rocky slope.
The horrific accident sheared off the bus’s roof, and left the bodies of victims strewn across the road.
In the past incidents investigations revealed that drivers were unlicensed, speeding or under the influence of drugs to keep themselves awake.
I wonder how many of them have had their licenses withdrawn and owners charged?
Politician Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha feels the Malaysian Research Institute on Road Safety (Miros) are the best in the land to carry out the detailed analysis and determine whether it was due to the condition of the road, or technical failure on the part of the bus!
I am certain investigators are currently interviewing the survivors.
The fact is Monday’s accident was the latest in a series in Malaysia.
If you remember oly in October a collision involving two buses, a van and three cars claimed 13 lives on the nation’s main north-south highway.
Later that month another seven people were killed when their bus overturned en route to Kuala Lumpur. It was later found that the driver had no licence.
‘A thug of a politician’ was then photographed pointing an accusing finger at the said driver at Selayang hospital ward for his greed of a political photo shoot!
He must have been so desperate for media attention!
A year ago, 10 people were killed when a double-decker bus struck a road divider in northern Ipoh state.
In 2007, a bus crash claimed 22 lives in what the government said at the time was the worst accident of its kind in Malaysia’s history.
Not a great track record for the various government agencies and others set up and financed by taxpayers monies!
But ‘the show must go on’ – people need to show they are doing something even if in reality the right hand does not know what the left is doing!
Gosh may GOD ALMIGHTY help us!
