“We have to be alert and vigilant for we have today the presence of closet terrorist sympathizers extremist preachers and other more active participants both home grown and foreign.”
TUNS WESAK DAY MESSAGE A NOURISHING REMINDER WE MISSED OVER A DECADE SAYS MALAYSIA ASEAN APEC LEAD CONSUMERIST
One Premier almost slept through his premiership and virtually destroyed Butterworth from being a vibrant town to a ghost of its past by moving all administrative agencies to Kepala Batas while another is alleged to have brought us to international disrepute, shame and perhaps bankruptcy?
And in that decade we saw the rise of state and non-state actors of thugs and shenanigans threatening and race and religious baiting at each and every quarter to score political points and attempt to stay relevant by creating fear and insecurity of the masses.
And true those attempts were well funded!
But all that came to a halt May 9th when the nation woke up from the crutches of morons, idiots and those enriching themselves from the nation’s coffers directly, indirectly and with proxies!
Nothing was sacred anymore!
So certainly it was a welcome relief post May 9th to see Premier Tun Mahathir re-stating a matter of fact and of the nation’s constitution that the new Pakatan Harapan government will continue to uphold the Federal Constitution and guarantee the rights and freedom of all races!
In his Wesak Day message, he stated quite plainly that all Malaysians had to respect the differences of religion among them.
That what was needed was the practice of high tolerance and accepting of these differences.
I welcomed his reassurance that in Malaysia, (the rights of) all races – the majority and the minority – are all preserved and protected under the constitution and the country’s laws!
He reminded us of what we forgot due to the roller coaster ride the nation took in recent years and the characters associated with that ride!
Tun reminded us and urged us on that we need to continue celebrating our unity despite the diversity which is our strongest essence of being Malaysia!
Where Malaysians of various descent, language, faiths and culture had been celebrating their religious activities together.
Indeed this is Malaysia’s uniqueness.
It is actually a manifestation of the freedom of religion practiced in Malaysia!
And Tun is right that this freedom had to be preserved and defended so that it would not be tarnished by excessive actions that could undermine the racial harmony and peace.
We have to be alert and vigilant for we have today the presence of closet terrorist sympathizers, extremist preachers and other more active participants both home grown and foreign.
The shades have become blur in recent years because of the leadership of the past!
Thank GOD that will all change now!
We must remember and thank our security agencies for their dedication and sacrifice to keep us Malaysians safe!
